Our Learning
Our pedagogy is drawn from our ethos and values, to create a learning environment that benefits each individual child.
The whole staff team have worked together to create our own curriculum, detailing what we want our children to learn, know or do before they go to primary school.
We have based this on four pillars:
Happy & Healthy Motivated Movers
Independent Investigators Confident Communicators
More information about this is available upon request and can be viewed
at the nursery.
Our Intent
At Dragonflies, we want our children to…….
Feel safe, secure and loved
Have the confidence to take risks, explore and persevere
Be curious and keen to discover the awe and wonder of the world
Develop life skills and independence
Know how to keep themselves safe and healthy
Be respectful and empathetic towards others
Know they have a voice and have the courage to use it
Develop their knowledge and understanding of the world around them
Understand their emotions and how to manage them
Be effective communicators
Be happy, confident learners
Be kind and considerate
Challenge themselves and others
Be able to form positive relationships with adults and peers
Our Implementation
We will achieve this by………..
Providing a rich, stimulating and enabling environment that encourages all children to explore and learn, whatever their starting point
Drawing on the children’s own interests and unique personalities to further their learning and personal development
Bringing together a balance of child initiated and adult led learning to achieve a hybrid approach to our education and progress
Providing carefully planned and accessible activities and resources
Continually assessing our environment and teaching to promote a fluid approach that evolves with the needs of each individual child
Working with parents to further their children’s learning, wellbeing and progress
Our Impact
We will measure this by……..
Children’s confidence, contentment and attitude
Having a clear method to show children’s progress – through a baseline, interim and transitional assessment, achieved through observing and conversations with our children
Parent involvement, feedback, suggestions and working together to achieve best outcomes for all children
